Our Eye Clinic in Burlington

Dr. Warren Samuel achieved his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees at Waterloo University. His education also brought him to Atlanta, GA, where he completed his externship at Omni Eye Hospital in 1993.

Before moving to Burlington, Dr. Samuel established his private practice in Etobicoke, where he served as a medical professional for over two and a half decades. In addition to his private practice in Etobicoke, Dr. Samuel also served as the Resident Optometrist at Versa Nursing Home from 1997 to 2017 and at Extended Care Nursing Home from 2011 to 2016, providing compassionate care to his senior patients residing there.

Dr. Samuel has a particular interest in treating patients with ocular disease and in pediatric care. He truly enjoys getting to know his patients and seeing families return year after year. As his pediatric patients have grown up and returned with children of their own, Dr. Samuel has felt honoured to know his patients continue to trust in him and his team.

Dr. Samuel values patient education. He wants to make sure each of his patients can clearly understand their eye care needs, allowing them to make informed decisions about recommended treatments or procedures. Because of this focus, Dr. Samuel takes time during each eye exam to review scans and imaging with the patient and explain the different parts of the eye.

In his free time, Dr. Samuel enjoys playing golf, cycling, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Margaret Corey completed her undergraduate degree and then her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 1999. While pursuing her Optometry degree, she completed an externship at Barnet-Dulaney Eye Center in Mesa, Arizona, where she was actively involved in the pre- and post-operative management of cataract, glaucoma, refractive procedures, and retinal disease. She also participated in a volunteer mission to central Mexico as a part of the I-Care International organization, performing free eye examinations to a community in need.

Dr. Corey spent the first 6 years of her career in London, Ontario, in a private optometry practice as well as at TLC London, where she was responsible for patient care on surgical days and was the emergency on-call Optometrist after hours. Twelve years ago Dr. Corey joined Dr. Jo-Anne Monteiro and Associates and has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of a growing and progressive full scope optometric practice.

Dr. Corey is an active member of the Oakville Soccer Club and the Oakville Curling Club and shares her love of sports, travel, and the outdoors with her husband and young children.

Dr. Melanie Fox-Chen grew up in Burlington, and she is happy to practice back home where she can give back to her community. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at McMaster University before pursuing her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. During her fourth year at Waterloo, she interned at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where she focused on ocular disease and therapeutics.

Dr. Fox-Chen prioritizes making time to listen to her patients in order to understand their unique visual needs and concerns. She strives to deliver excellent, comprehensive and personalized care for each patient. Dr. Fox-Chen loves practicing optometry as she understands that having great vision deeply enhances someone’s quality of life.

Beyond her work at the practice, Dr. Fox-Chen has provided optometric care to remote communities in both Northern Ontario and Ecuador. When she isn’t working, Dr. Fox-Chen likes to run, ski, and spend time with her friends and family.

Dr. Danielle Wickert completed both her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo. Her clinical training provided her with well-rounded experience in various aspects of optometric care across a diverse range of patient populations and clinical settings.

Dr. Wickert has particular interests in myopia control (being highly nearsighted herself), dry eye management, and providing comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. She is passionate about making eye care accessible and comfortable for everyone, including individuals with disabilities, special needs, infants, and children.

Her approach to care is rooted in building strong doctor-patient relationships and equipping patients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their eye health. She is dedicated to making sure patients leave their appointments feeling heard, cared for, and confident in their treatment plan.

When she’s not looking at eyes, you’ll find her unwinding with a good medical drama, getting lost in a book, or turning a paint-by-numbers into a work of art.
